A breakthrough in the field of magnetic levitation trains (Maglev) in vacuum tunnels has resulted in China. This is an experimental model developed in the Traction Power State Key Laboratory of Southwest Jiaotong University, capable of speeds ranging between 600 and 1,200 kilometers per hour. The technology would be available in ten years for use in transport.
A group of Chinese scientists seem to have found the key to developing a train can reach speeds greater than those of a plane. This is establishing a Global Times article published in China, as part of an investigation conducted by experts from the Southwest Jiaotong University.
According Shuai Bin, associate dean of the School of Traffic of that university, in the laboratory model magnetic levitation train tunnel was able to vacuum to run at a speed of between 600 and 1,200 kilometers per hour, while in theory this type of Maglev trains could reach speeds of up to 20,000 miles per hour.
According to expert forecasts, this new technology could be operational within 10 years, while new Maglev train would arrive at the main geographical areas and regions of China about 2030. In this way, passengers can travel from Beijing to Guangzhou in less than two hours today when a flight between these two destinations consuming three hours ...

experimental stage
also worth mentioning that the scientists themselves recognize that the success so far is only experimental. There is still a huge gap between what was proposed in laboratory situation and the adoption of new technology for practical, everyday use in transportation systems.
This new approach only Maglev technology is being studied, as well as China, U.S. and Switzerland. From a theoretical perspective, these maglev trains could travel in vacuum tunnels at speeds of up to 20,000 miles per hour.
addition to these speeds, which today seem like science fiction but in a few decades could reach these maglev trains recorded advanced two important advantages: the technology uses only a tenth of the fuel required system and its operation generates virtually no noise.
However, a new system of high-speed rail by magnetic levitation train traveling through tunnels under vacuum for the moment is a utopia. The main reason is the astronomical costs of this technology, which are several times those recorded in any of the other technologies available today.
The new magnetic levitation train vacuum break all speed records in the industry. Economic obstacles
The cost per kilometer of a vacuum tunnel system is several times higher than that must be addressed, for example, to develop a metro system with current technology, ranking in the order of 30 billion. Consequently, the new technology only now has experimental significance, until their costs to permit its development.
On the other hand, the theoretical limits of magnetic levitation trains vacuum tunnels seem nonexistent, but reality says otherwise. So that Chinese scientists recognize that reaching a speed of 20,000 kilometers per hour is impossible in technical and economic terms, although theoretically feasible.
On the contrary, it seems possible to reach speeds around 1,000 kilometers per hour, but will also be necessary to achieve various developments in terms of passenger safety. According to Bin Shuai, and can be considered dangerous for people to board a magnetic levitation train tunnels under vacuum with an average speed of over 350 kilometers per hour.
New Chinese trains, capable of doubling the speed reached by the magnetic levitation trains currently under development, such as in the case of the Japanese models, they can occur on an experimental prototype in the next two three years. Between 2020 and 2030, meanwhile, would materialize their operation in China. Pablo Javier
