That truth ?..... Despite our initial rejection by the big cities, who has not ever called attention Kathmandu, the capital of Nepal. We decided to give a couple of days, or at least that was our initial plan.
arrived on the roof of the bus, our aforementioned Nepali custom, but this time with the black face of pollution from these trucks Jurassic those black clouds coming from the exhaust pipes, but well, excited.
Find a place to sleep, the first goal. The hordes of tourists staying in Thamel, the tourist district of the city, full of shops and expensive restaurants and hotels soaring prices garbage ....... Street Frak us, what better name ......
The first night was spent in the coolest place in the city, Moon Stay Lodge, a hostel with squat spirit, full of curious people playing music on the roof ... very cool but no running water so the play the next day to find another place to wash, because his feet were blacker than a coal armpit, so we already had place to relax and socialize because Vero place where he stayed there.
City we caught from the first day, despite the crowds, the ubiquitous whistles cars and motorcycles and pushing and smoke ..... these streets near Durbar Square and the early mornings to go quiet at around 6 the city begins to awaken, Pequenho many temples on every corner with people doing "Bid" or offerings of candles, flowers and incense, a cup of tea on top of a temple to start the day ...... a special and magical place.
There are many things to do in Kathmandu, Hindu and Buddhist temples everywhere .... visit Monkey Temple, the real name Syambivcmbneigdonath hallucinate or something ... great Buddhist stupa on top of a hill full of monkeys all sliding as Ninh by the railings of the stairs and doing putadillas to unsuspecting tourists. We also visited Boudhanath, very important place that the Buddha is not .. one of the largest stupas in the world and place of pilgrimage, surrounded by monasteries and crowded.
the days went by and suddenly the streets were filled with more still if possible with people, bikes, vendors and noise. OOOOtro festival that we have to suffer, Deepawali, or Diwali, as whichever you prefer, celebrating the victory of Rama (which these people have gods God!) In Sri Lanka, apparently not super important that Hindu holy book, and celebrate filling the streets with candles to show you the way back home ..
So
3 or 4 days in the city, walking, been working at the hotel, or good, doing a little craft shop because each had something the others ensenhar, improving our nepali dhabas to eat where the locals eat and dad do not speak English ... but eat healthy and rich and secure, the ubiquitous dhal bhat, or thali .... the typical dish of India and Nepal, rice with lentils and vegetables and many more things .. rich with funny names ... malai kofta, masala dosa, palak paneer, alu gobi and unemployment and that talking about food I get hungry and I spend a lot of money man!
volunteers went into the issue, our Pequenho thorn in South America, and Nepal seemed the perfect opportunity to sacarnosla. We talked with people who are dedicated take care of dogs but we preferred to work with people, so we started a thorough search on the internet that let us not at all clear, apart from the huge amount of money requested by some organizations, for 2 weeks $ 500 per month or atrocities Ø1000 by style that makes us think that if more volunteer work is a vacation for tourists with pasta and leisure in which to take pictures with the poor for their cronies ensenhar (above you tell me if you have to pay thousands of dollars you have to currar ... or sae that batters over bitch!) and stroll through the area.
Walking down the street we saw a sign that ponia NEPAL ASSOCIATION volunteering and there we were ... all seemed fair, working in a school 4 or 5 hours a day ensenhando English to Ninh and paying for our child support ... but no, the "handling" was 150 dollars for the arrogant asshole who attended us, gave the impression of not needing volunteers so with the same we went and with great sorrow xambiamos plans once more, hoping to find a place where they really need us.
Road to Darjeeling, return to India.
